How did you first discover your photographer, Referral, Internet, Gallery, previous weddings or other? (In Order of Frequency)
- Referral
- Wedding Show
- Previous Wedding
- Phase 1 - Initial Impression: Work
- Phase 2 - Deciding Factor: Personality
- Phase 3 - Closing the Deal: Price
- Hidden Cost or negotiating price
- Speed of response from Photographer
- The final product of special moments captured.
This doesn't surprise me at all actually! I was just having this conversation with a colleague who had recently spoken with a local photographer. That photographer told my friend/colleague that he just wanted to shoot...didn't want to TALK to people, or forge a relationship. It made me think about how much he is missing out on both personally and professionally when taking that stance. I am very personal with my clients - it isn't a business scheme, but a part of my personality! I love getting to know them, their quirks, their relationships, and capturing something special for them. I know price will always factor in to their decision, but I agree that people are more apt to spend with you if they like you and feel that you generally have an interest in them as well.

1 - "Get a good night sleep"
I know it may be hard to imagine a bride actually going to bed early before the wedding day but it can be done. One trick, is I have everything ready the day before by asking myself "If the wedding was to happen today would I be ready?" From the bride and groom perspective, all tasks for the wedding should be planned for completion as if the wedding was to be held the day before. Hence, the day before the wedding should be dedicated to rest and relaxation.
2 - "Eat and be merry"
Make sure to eat and hydrate yourself throughout the day. I always have a bottle of water and snacks packed and ready to satisfy my cravings throughout the photo session. Alright, honestly, my beautiful assistant (wifey) usually makes sure that my belly is full and that I'm hydrated. I suggest that the bride/groom assign someone with the important task to provide drinks and snacks to the entire Bridal Party. It doesn't have to be fancy but just enough food/water to avoid the wedding party from becoming famished or de-hydrated. Trust me, you and your bridal party will appreciate it.
3 - "Why prohibit what you can't prevent"
This is actually a quote from Napoleon that I try to follow this philosophy not only during my photo sessions but throughout my life. While I always feel the initial nervousness/excitement before a photo-shoot, during the session I try to stay calm and have a great time. I don't sweat the small things but rely on the careful planning and additional help from my assistant (wifey) to handle unforeseen events. For the bride and groom, I encourage you to have a stress free day as well. Assign not only your wedding activities but the wedding challenges to a trusted wedding coordinator. Advise them to make your life easier by having them make the decisions for things that may go wrong. And for those items that require your input don't stress the things that are out of your control. Rely on your careful planning and people you trust to make your day a special day.
If you are able to put these Zen habits into place you can almost guarantee a great time at the wedding and you will appreciate your day even more after reflecting back on your day through your wedding pictures.
I have been searching for a nice product to help me sleep too. Melatonin has bad side effects. I read about Calms Forte 4 Kids. That link goes to a review. You think its as good as they say?
(04.21.10 @ 08:14 AM)If you want to buy a house, you will have to receive the business loans. Furthermore, my brother usually uses a commercial loan, which supposes to be really useful.

Heard about this site from my friend. He pointed me here and told me I’d find what I need. He was right! I got all the questions I had, answered. Didn’t even take long to find it. Love the fact that you made it so easy for people like me.

Before you read any further, get your mind out of the gutter.Wow, you do so much to prepare... I feel lame because I don't really do much more than maybe look at my notes from the meetings I've had with the couples. I pretty much rely on having a goodtime and just going in blind to see what spontaniously happens.
Maybe I should try prepping a bit more.
(06.23.09 @ 06:29 AM)this shot has a sweet fashion edge to it, I dig it. The part I would add that to these great suggestions is to have a freakin blast while shooting, I get the best images when I am having a good time, and I can engage my couples and work with them so they are having fun as well!
(06.25.09 @ 06:05 PM)Good ideas here Carl. I try and focus on pre-visualizing the images I want to create.
(06.30.09 @ 10:37 AM)Hey all. Thanks for the love and sharing your way to get in the mood.
(07.03.09 @ 05:00 AM)Awesome image Carl, its totally cool that you focus so much time ahead of time getting yourself ready for the shoot. I should probably start spending some more time preparing myself mentally before running off to shoot

(05.01.10 @ 06:41 PM)Don't have cash to buy a building? Don't worry, just because it's real to get the loans to solve such problems. Hence take a student loan to buy everything you require.
